According to the reading, when people recollect a decision made in the past, they tend to remember only positive reasons for the decision and forget about negative factors. They even add new positive reasons to justify the decision. This is called choice supportive bias. The professor uses two examples.
First, he bought a house to be close to his work place. Later being asked why he bought house, he responded with a new reason of good neighbors.
Second, he started to jog to lose weight, but when asked why he started jogging, he mentioned enjoyment of running in nature.
These examples demonstrate choice supportive bias.

Test 16
According to the reading, people have limited amount of resources, so they can do only one activity at a time. When there are two possible activities, people consider what if I have done the second option and evaluate positive and negative factors. In other words they evaluate the opportunity cost.
The professor uses two examples.
First, a student has a test tomorrow and also invited to a dinner. The opportunity cost of studying for the test is missing the dinner, while that of having the dinner is poor grade in the exam.
Second, a person has 30 dollars and he can spend it for a dinner at a restaurant or buy groceries at a supermarket for several meals.

Test 17
According to the reading, some people tend to have too much confidence on their ability to accomplish a task, but in reality they fail to do the task and get disappointed. This is called the overconfidence effect. The professor uses two examples.
First, a student did not study for the final exam because he was too confident. In the end he got grade C on the exam.
Second, a woman student was too confident on her ability as a journalist, but her writing skill was mediocre. As the result, she did not land any journalist jobs.

Test 18
According to the reading, when a child behaves badly, he or she must be punished in a logical and consistent manner. This is called logical consequences. The professor uses two examples.
First, a girl student repeatedly drew pictures on her desk. The teacher consistently punished her by making her clean all the desks. This worked and she stopped the misbehavior.
On the contrary, a boy made noises in the class, but the teacher did not punish him in a logical manner, so he continued the bad behavior.
