Test 3
Who is a musician that you like?
My favorite musician is Franz Liszt, a 19th-century Hungarian composer and pianist.
First, his piano pieces are technically very demanding. Hungarian rhapsodies No.2, (probably the most famous piano piece by Liszt), is one the most technically difficult piano solos. It is said that most professional pianists practice this piece to improve their skills.
Secondly, his melody is so attractive. Hungarian Rhapsodies No.12 (in C sharp minor) is my favorite piece. He magically created this piece by mixing a fast and capricious tempo with the background of a slow and solitary mood. (For these reasons, my favorite musician is Franz Liszt.)

Which is a better place to raise your children, a small town or a big city?
I am fully convinced that a small town is a better place to raise your children. (I will present two reasons to substantiate my assertion.)
First, small towns are safer. To be specific, small towns have lower crime rates, so that children can play outside by themselves without worrying about being kidnapped.
Secondly, people in small towns know one another and function as one big family. For example, I grew up in a small town and I knew pretty much everyone in my town. The whole town is like a big family and took care of me.
(For these reasons, a small town is a better place to raise your children.)

Modern technology has made people’s lives too complex. Agree or disagree?
I refute the assertion that modern technology has made people’s lives too complex.
(Airplanes and the internet made people’s lives easy.)
First, airplanes made our lives easy. To be specific, as I live in a remote island, it takes almost half a day to go to the nearest city by boat, while it takes only one hour by airplane.
Second, the internet made our lives easy. To illustrate, thanks to the internet, I can make reservations for my trains, and send documents electronically. The internet definitely made my life easy.
For these reasons, I refute the assertion that modern technology has made people’s lives too complex.

Teenagers cause many problems for their parents. Agree or disagree.
I agree with the assertion that teenagers cause many problems for their parents.
First, teenagers are getting more rebellious. To illustrate, my brother was a defiant teenager. He often broke curfews, came home intoxicated heavily, swore words you never wanted to hear, and punched holes in the wall.
Secondly, many teenagers are addicted to alcohol. If my memory serves me correct, drunk driving kills eight teens every day in America, (and 60 percent of all teen deaths in car accidents are alcohol-related).
For these reasons, I agree with the assertion that teenagers cause many problems for their parents.
