Test 1
What is a good way to make a new friend?
I am convinced that you can meet new friends by travelling and participating in a new class.
(I will provide two examples to substantiate my assertion.)
Fist, you can make new friends by travelling. To be specific, a few years ago I joined in a 7 day bus tour in Spain. By the end of the tour, we all became friends.
Second, you can meet new friends by attending a school. To illustrate, I attended a 6 week intensive Spanish course. (My classmates were mostly from European countries such as France, Germany and Italy.) I really liked a German friend in the class and we still exchange e-mails even today.
(All in all you can meet new friends by travelling and attending a school.)

What is most valuable person? Who is an influential person in your life?
I am fully convinced that my wife is the most valuable person. (I will present two reasons to corroborate my assertion.)
To begin with, she is an extremely positive person (and makes me happy).
A few years ago, I was completely depressed after losing my job. She encouraged me by saying “Honey, every cloud has a silver lining.
In addition, she has a great sense of humor. She is always cracking jokes and makes me laugh. The other day, her joke was so funny that I could not help laughing for two minutes.
(All in all, she is the best thing ever happened to me.)

What kind of person is your best friend?
I am convinced that my best friend should have two attributes, positive and humorous. (I will present two clarifications to substantiate my assertion.)
(My best friends should be a positive and humorous person.)
To begin with, my friend should be a positive person.
A few years ago, I was completely depressed after losing my job. My friend encouraged me by saying “Do not worry. Every cloud has a silver lining.
In addition, my friend should have a sense of humor. To illustrate, my friend is always cracking jokes and makes me laugh. The other day, his joke was so funny that I could not help laughing for two minutes.
(All in all, my best friend should be a positive and humorous person.)

Do you prefer teachers having discussions in their classes or lecture all of the time?
I am convinced that teachers should have discussions in their classes. (I will present two reasons to substantiate my assertion.)
First, discussions stimulate my thinking process (and make the lecture more interesting). To be specific, in a physics class, we discussed why the sky is blue. We debated for almost 30 minutes, and I really enjoyed this thinking process.
Second, through discussions, I can learn opinions of other students. For example, in a history class, we debated on the reasons for the decline of the Roman Empire. Other students suggested numerous theories, and I learned a great deal from them.
(For these reasons, I am convinced that teachers should have more discussions.)

Do you take notes or do you listen closely to the professor?
I am fully convinced that there are more benefits of listening to the lecture than taking notes.
First, as the speed of my note taking is so slow, I tend to lose important points of the lecture. For example, in a history class, I was busy taking notes of small details such as years, names, and places and I missed the topic sentences of the lecture.
Secondly, my comprehension is better when I listen to a lecture without taking notes. To be specific, in the TOEFL listening section, my score is always better when I concentrate on the dialogue without note taking.
For these reasons, I am full convinced that listening closely to the lecture is more beneficial.

Everyone does not need to attend college.
I endorse this assertion for two reasons.
Firstly, unless you want to become a doctor, lawyer, or other specialists, college degrees are not mandatory. For example, my brother is an auto mechanic. He does not have a college degree, but he has been running his auto business extremely well.
Secondly, not everyone likes studying. For example, my uncle hated studying so much that he dropped out of the high school. He worked very hard in a construction company for 40 years, and just last month he was promoted to the president of the company.
For these reasons, I endorse the contention that everyone does not need to attend college.
